WELCOME!!!!!

Thank you for visiting my blog! This is my attempt to post, hopefully creative, modifications to existing RPGs and games. I intend to eventually add completely original content of my own. Currently the focus is bonus scenarios for the D&D Adventure System Game, The Legend of Drizzt by Wizards of the Coast. While the Drizzt game is primarily the focal point, these scenarios are compatible with the D&D Adventure System games, Castle Ravenloft and Wrath of Ashardalon, as well. I also will be adding new characters to the World of WarCraft Adventure Game.

Why mainly bonus scenarios for The Legend of Drizzt board game? Well first of all, it is an absolutely amazing game. Secondly, my sister and I, are big fans of the game, but unfortunately after our 3rd time playing, we had completed all of the scenarios. I know I was craving more. The great thing about the book series on which it is based, is the sheer amount of material. R.A. Salvatore is flooded his novels with plenty of imagery, stories, and fights that are suitable to this style of game. Also, the Dungeon and Dragons world has plenty of straight up dungeon crawling, hack and slash, style video games. These video games match up perfectly for the board game, because the board game is a dungeon crawling, hack and slash. I plan on implementing many of these video games into scenarios.

The future goal is to start publishing free and low-cost pen and paper and dice games. I'm hoping to get my name out there by putting spins on existing games. The Ultimate goal, however, is for everything I publish to be enjoyed. The PDFs you print off from my site, please feel free to distribute and post. All I ask it that you give me credit for them, and that you do NOT edit them. The more my games and scenarios are seen, the more they will be played. If I get enthusiatic responses and a good readership, I can make more games.

I hope you enjoy my blog. Here's to hoping it goes somewhere. If you have any questions about my scenarios, please feel free to e-mail me at covenofthedragons@yahoo.com, or post your questions in the blog post that it pertains to.

Thank you and have fun!!!!!

Working on a Massive Scenario!

I'm currently working on a massive scenario, which should be the crown of my custom adventures.  The Thousand Orcs and Capture The Flag, which are very simply made, took me about 15-20 minutes to be put together.  The Coven of the Dragons took about an hour and fifteen minutes.  The one I'm slowly putting together, will take much, much longer.

I want to have a solid campaign that can stretch to about 6-8 hours, that is a part of a much longer campaign that totals at about 18-24 hours of gameplay.  The campaign I'm currently working on is based after one of my favorite D&D video games.  The Legend of Drizzt format fits perfectly into this game.

There is a lot of logistical issues that I'm working to overcome though.  I'm going to have to create new monsters, and each room in each adventure will require a new mini-monster deck.  While this will lengthen the setup time at the beginning and during the game, if done right, I think it will be worth it.

While Coven of the Dragons was my sort of rough draft into a lengthier dungeon-crawling experiemce, the one I'm working on turns it into a full-fledged action RPG.  No fears though.  It will still retain the Legend of Drizzt's simple rules.  The players I hope, will see past that, and feel immersed into an extensive RPG experience.  This is my attempt to turn Legend of Drizzt as close a possible into a solid Dungeon and Dragons campaign, albeit without the complicated rules and time-consuming fights.

The ending result should be a story-rich RPG experience that is easy to play, easy to get immersed in, and has a fast, frenetic combat style.

Legend of Drizzt Extra Character 1 - Kromlech Bruenghor

Here is my first custom character for The Legend of Drizzt Board Game.  I chose Kromlech Bruenghor, a shield dwarf and playable character from Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.  His stats are powerful.  He was ridiculously strong in the game and was able to take on bosses that it would usually take a whole team of adventurers to tackle.

I have balanced out his powerful stats by giving him Daily and Utility Powers that when used, are very powerful, but also result in negative attacks on him.  I feel this reflects Kromlech's character from the game quite well.  He had powerful feats and "magic" attacks, but they constantly left him wide-open to receive hits from the enemy in return.

I hope you enjoy the first of my custom characters.

Legend of Drizzt Bonus Scenario 3 - The Thousand Orcs

Here is my third scenario for the game.  This one is extremely simple and is definitely not on the scale of Coven of the Dragons.  It follows more the line of Capture the Flag.  It is a simple team or solo affair.  I had about 25 minutes to write one up at work, and this is what came out.  It is more to keep the creative juices flowing than anything else.  Don't use this scenario to judge me on my creative abilities.  This is by far NOT my best work, but hopefully you will find some enjoyment in it.

I included Orc characters that are not present in The Legend of Drizzt's game box as enemies.  Goblin are essential to this scenario as well, and can easily substitute for the Orcs if you don't have any of the other D&D Adventure System Games.  The bestiary will be very limited with just goblins, but still manageable.

I'm working on my next big scenario, which should be even larger than Coven of the Dragons.  I hope to have it posted sometime this month.

Enjoy!

Legend of Drizzt Bonus Scenario 2 - Capture the Flag

Here is my second bonus scenario for Legend of Drizzt.  This is a PVP team vs. team affair.  While it is a Capture the Flag scenario, it can also be modified to be a DeathMatch scenario as well.  This game is best played with 2 teams of 3 or 4 players each, for a total of 6 or 8 players.

Legend of Drizzt Bonus Scenario 1 - Coven of the Dragons

This is my first Bonus Scenario for The Legend of Drizzt Board Game.  There is more RPGish elements, such as a more detailed plot, storytelling, and boss battles, than in the original adventure book for the game.  Hopefully these will be welcome additions, and not detract from the game.  This scenario will probably take around 2 1/2 hours or longer to complete depending on the number of players in your party.

While this scenario is mostly suitable for campaign-style play, it can also be easily used as a stand-alone adventure.  ENJOY!
